Big Bang Referee World Cup 2018 Official Watch

The official timekeeper of FIFA, Hublot introduced their limited edition smart watches for the 2018 World Cup. Named Big Bang Referee Watch, this extremely limited edition of 2018 pieces costs $5,200 each. Match referees of FIFA WC 2018 Russia will have a hands-on experience of it. The rest are for retail

Hublot pushed its innovations to the next level, pioneering smart watches ever into the 2018 World Cup in its hat trick participation as ‘FIFA Official Timekeeper/Watch’. With all video assistance and Goal-line technology, it vibrates and shows a GOAL on screen each time a goal is scored. It also notifies fifteen minutes prior each match, player substitution and each yellow/red card display. This watch is open to strap personalization and is compatible with all Android 4.4 and iOS 9 and above. They are available at Hublet Outlets from May 1, 2018  at 5000 Swiss Francs or ~5,200 USD.

Big Bang Referee Specs

The black lined straps with additional sports sponge close with a Composite Deployant Buckle Clasp. Powered by Intel, developed by LVMH and housing Google’s Wear OS, each has an accelerometer, microphone, tilt detector, Gyroscope, Haptic motor, Gps, etc. This first-of-its-kind watch has an intelligence-driven tech-connected motor. It’s from the luxury watchmaker Hublot!

All the specs were expected, as the CEO of Hublot, Ricardo Guadalupe says: “The Big Bang Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ offers all the usual features of a smart watch of course, but that’s not where Hublot has applied its innovation and audacity. It brings together everything that inspires the passion of football lovers! The FIFA World Cup is the Holy Grail of emotions for football fans, so just imagine what an object such as a watch that captures each and every one of its moments, its turning points, its stakes could suddenly represent? The football aficionados from among the brand’s friends have been waiting for this watch for a long time!”

Big Bang Unico 2014

Looking back, Hublot was also the timekeeper for 2014 Brazil World Cup. The then Official watch was Big Bang Unico 2014(in ceramic and King Gold colors), costing some $20k-40k! (Notice the dead drop in price this time!) They also issued a 100-piece minimally designed Hublot Classic Fusion Ultra-Thin Classico 2014.

Some honorable mentions include Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Leo Messi Limited Edition, Franck Muller Perpetual Calendar Bi-Retro Chronograph(for Cristiano Ronaldo), Richard Mille RM 11-01 Roberto Mancini; and the list is longer.

However, when a luxury watchmaker like Hublot introduces a smart watch for FIFA, it has to be bold and loud. Running the new Google Wear OS, it caused quite a stir even at Basel world 2018.

The thing about football – the important thing about football – is that it is not just about football ” says the author Terry Pratchett. We can’t agree more. And when Football is about watches, or more precisely, watches for football, it is intricate!
